Dolls, Ruins, Rice fields and Lamphun – 1 day
From: 99.00 $ (Price for minimum 2 persons)
This bicycle ride will show you the essence of Lanna. You will visit ancient ruins, pass through beautiful landscape, meet villagers and see remote temples.
Cycling distance is 25-30 kms. Terrain is flat. Depending on the season we will cycle over some great, unpaved trails where no cars can go. We have our vehicle on standby so we are very flexible.
After lunch we will visit the old city of Lamphun before we hop on the local train and enjoy the ride to Chiang Mai.
Our guide will meet you at the hotel at 8 AM. We will drive to the starting point of our bicycle trip, which is about 25 kms from Chiang Mai.
We’ll follow the Ping River until we turn into the countryside of rice fields and longan plantations. This is very traditional rural and scenic landscape. We have enough time for photo stops and chats with farmers. Our first major stop is the Chiang Mai Doll Museum, which has a stunning collection of traditional dolls from all over the world. We visit the small factory*.
We pedal onwards into the idyllic countryside, stop at seldom visited temples and enjoy the views. This is real Lanna countryside! We continue to Wiang Takan, a complex of ancient ruins dating back to the 13th century. We tour the complex on our bikes before our car will transfer us to Lamphun. Here we will have lunch and visit the interesting handicraft market. Wat Haripunchai is one of the most revered temples in North Thailand. We will have a chat with a monk before we transfer you to the railway station to catch the slow train to Chiang Mai at 14:22 pm.**. From Chiang Mai railway station we will transfer you back to the hotel.
